Michael Buttkus new CEO of Sopra Steria Next in Germany
Sopra Steria has appointed Michael Buttkus as the new Germany chief executive of its consulting arm, Sopra Steria Next.
Headquartered in France, Sopra Steria is a pan-European IT services company with 56,000 employees. Its management and digital consulting business, Sopra Steria Next, has around 4,000 consultants in 30 offices across Europe.
Installed at the helm today, Michael Buttkus now leads the German business of Sopra Steria Next, and will become a member of the Sopra Steria management team in the country.
Buttkus joins from German-origin consulting firm Horváth, where he worked for more than 15 years and was a partner. Earlier in his career, he worked for Accenture.
An expert in corporate transformation, performance management, digitalization and large-scale implementation, Buttkus focuses on clients in the retail, consumer goods, media and entertainment sectors.
“I am looking forward to help Sopra Steria Next further expand its service portfolio in Germany and build its brand sustainably on the market,” said Buttkus.
Buttkus succeeds Ulf Glöckner, who led Sopra Steria Next’s German business for two years and now transitions to a European role.
Frédéric Munch, CEO of Sopra Steria in Germany, said: “Sopra Steria Next combines business consulting with IT expertise and thus positions itself as a strategy and implementation partner for the digital transformation of its customers. We want to further expand our profile in the German market, and with Michael Buttkus, we have gained a senior partner to help achieve this goal.”
Earlier this year, Sopra Steria Next bought a boutique innovation consultancy in France called InProcess.
