Oliver Wyman has appointed automotive expert Fabian Brandt as its new Market Leader for Germany and Austria. He succeeds Kai Bender, who spent two terms in the office.
The 50-year-old Fabian Brandt is a long-standing partner at Oliver Wyman, having been with the global strategy and management consulting firm for 25 years. He has during this time held several leadership roles, including serving as COO of the Germany and Austria business for two years, and more recently, as Global Head of the Automotive and Industrial Goods practice.
Brandt is an advisor to the automotive industry with a functional specialization on sales, after sales, and quality management. He helps car manufacturers master the many disruptive changes sweeping through the industry: new propulsion technologies, increased connectivity, autonomous driving, the transition to a carbon-free economy, as well as all kinds of new mobility business designs.
In his new role, Munich-based Brandt leads Oliver Wyman’s second-largest consulting market in the world. Globally, Oliver Wyman has over 7,000 consultants and staff working from 70+ offices worldwide.
Commenting on his appointment, Brandt said: “I am looking forward to taking on the role of market leader and, together with the entire partner team in Germany and Austria, to vigorously driving forward our important mission.”
“The German economy is in a phase of fundamental transformation that is affecting many key sectors, from the automotive industry to the energy industry and chemicals to the production of consumer and industrial goods and the entire financial sector. At Oliver Wyman, we see ourselves as a strategic and trusted partner for large companies in transformation and are thus making a significant contribution to the sustainable strengthening of Germany as a nation.”
Oliver Wyman has been present in the German and Austrian market since 1993. Under the leadership of Kai Bender, who led the region for seven years, the consulting firm has grown considerably and bagged multiple awards and recognitions for its track record. Bender remains with Oliver Wyman and will focus more on client management and consulting engagements.
“We wish Fabian every success in his new role and at the same time, we would like to thank Kai very much for his achievements as market leader over the past six years,” said Christian Edelmann, European head of Oliver Wyman.
