PaymentGenes supports Shuttle with launch of new mobility card

Driving innovation in corporate mobility, PaymentGenes supported Shuttel in launching the Netherlands’ first open-loop Visa Fleet 2.0 card, a major step in modernizing sustainable business travel.

In June, Shuttel, the Dutch leader in employee mobility solutions, backed by Volkswagen Financial Services and Pon, partnered with issuer processor Enfuce to launch a next-generation mobility payment card. The initiative, designed to help companies manage employee travel benefits, costs, and compliance more efficiently, was guided from concept towards execution by PaymentGenes.

Shuttel’s goal was clear: to evolve from a closed-loop model to an open-loop, Visa-powered solution that would give businesses and their employees greater flexibility, transparency, and ease of use. With PaymentGenes’ strategic and regulatory expertise, the project navigated complex PSD2 requirements, integrated with Visa’s open-loop infrastructure, and onboarded the right partner for a scalable launch.

“Open-loop technology allows us to offer a versatile, globally accepted payment solution. With seamless integration, real-time insights, and strong security, this is a big step toward simplifying and modernizing business mobility,” said Joëlle Stokkel, Innovation Manager at Shuttel.

Smoothening mobility

Built on Enfuce’s cloud-native issuing processing platform, the Visa Fleet 2.0 card allows employees to pay for fuel, EV charging, public transport and parking nationwide. It combines universal Visa acceptance with smart spend controls, AI-powered fraud detection, and real-time expense tracking, delivering a more secure and efficient experience for companies and users alike.

The new card redefines how corporate mobility is managed, enabling smarter travel policies, sustainability tracking, and seamless reimbursements – all through one unified solution. It also enhances Shuttel’s broader Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) proposition, reinforcing the company’s mission to create a more flexible and future-proof mobility ecosystem for Dutch businesses.

“Our collaboration with Shuttel marks a major milestone in bringing Visa Fleet 2.0 to the European mobility landscape,” said Monika Liikamaa, co-CEO and co-founder of Enfuce. “We’re setting a new standard for flexible, secure, and compliant mobility solutions.”

Earlier this year, PaymentGenes also supported Enfuce on a market launch. The award-winning payments consulting firm provided market research and strategic insights to support Enfuce’s expansion into the Benelux region.

“With this successful collaboration, PaymentGenes further strengthens its position as a trusted partner at the intersection of fintech, mobility, and digital payments,” said Ward Hagenaar, partner at PaymentGenes.
