Norwegian consultancy Bekk returns to independence with private equity investor

Bekk, a technology and management consultancy in Norway, has partnered with private equity investor Axcel to return to independence.

Founded in 2000, Bekk provides large enterprise clients in both the public and private sectors with end-to-end consulting services, ranging from strategy, operations and change to technology development and implementation. The firm currently employs more than 600 people across its offices in Oslo and Trondheim.

The consultancy has been part of Tieto – a Finnish listed software and services company – since 2019, when Tieto merged with EVRY. Bekk had previously been acquired by EVRY in 2007.

Throughout this entire period, Bekk has always operated independently and under its own brand, building on its strong reputation in the Norwegian market.

Following a strategic reorientation at Tieto Tech Consulting, the group decided earlier this year to divest Bekk, prompting a competitive bidding process. Bekk’s management has now chosen to move forward with a financial sponsor who will support the consulting firm as it embarks on its next chapter.

With roots in the Nordics, Axcel is one of the region’s largest investors. The company currently owns 23 businesses and has since its inception completed 77 platform investments, more than 400 add-on acquisitions and 53 exits. Its nine funds to date have raised around €4.8 billion.

“Axcel is a strong fit for Bekk given its tech-sector expertise and its experience supporting technology and management consultancies,” said Bekk CEO Frithjof Frederiksen. “Bekk’s success rests on our exceptional team, our deep technical capabilities and our clear, pragmatic focus on solving clients’ digital challenges. We’re excited to continue developing Bekk in a way that best serves our clients and our people.”

Tieto and Axcel have agreed a purchase price of 1.7 billion Norwegian kroner, equivalent to €140 million, on a cash- and debt-free basis. The transaction is expected to complete in the first half of 2026.

“As Tieto Tech Consulting is currently redefining its strategic focus, it became clear that the best path forward for both parties is for Bekk to continue independently,” said Endre Rangnes, CEO of Tieto.

Lars Cordt, Partner at Axcel, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Bekk to support its continued growth as a leading digital transformation provider, and we appreciate our strong collaboration with Tieto in reaching this agreement.”
