Data and AI consultancy Xomnia appoints Stephan Hartgers as CEO

Netherlands-based data and AI consultancy Xomnia has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer: Stephan Hartgers.

The new CEO brings more than 25 years of experience in technology, strategy consulting and digital transformation. Most recently, Hartgers served as Vice President at Hexaware Technologies, where he led the firm’s Transformation & Product Consulting practice across the EMEA and APAC regions.

Earlier in his career, he spent over eleven years at Mobiquity, rising to Vice President for Digital Strategy. In that role, he was responsible for an international client portfolio and multidisciplinary teams spanning strategy, data science and product development. He also spent seven years at McKinsey & Company, leading large-scale strategic, operational and technology programmes for major organisations, having started his career at KPMG.

In his new role, Hartgers will lead one of the fastest-growing and leading data and AI consultancies in the Dutch market. Xomnia employs around 150 professionals today, up from approximately 80 staff when the firm landed a private equity investment from Foreman Capital three years ago.

“Stephan is exactly the leader Xomnia needs for this next phase. He understands how to professionalise an organisation without losing its culture, and how to build commercial capability while preserving the directness and drive that make specialist firms effective. That combination is exactly what Xomnia needs now,” said Maxime Rosset, Partner at Foreman Capital.

“We have full confidence in his ability to build on the momentum of recent years and create lasting value for clients, the team and the company,” Rosset added.

Under the leadership of Hartgers, Xomnia will focus on three strategic priorities: strengthening delivery quality and commercial maturity across its services, expanding AI capabilities in areas such as agentic AI and sovereign AI, and pursuing growth through targeted acquisitions and strategic partnerships. In 2025, the firm acquired Aurai.

Commenting on his appointment, Hartgers said: “Xomnia has built something truly distinctive: a team with genuine depth, a strong reputation, and a clear position in a market that is only growing in importance. What attracted me is the combination of technical expertise and business understanding. Organisations that are serious about AI need a partner that speaks both languages – and that is exactly what Xomnia offers.”

For Hartgers, the appointment coincides with another personal milestone. Next month, he will publish his book, titled ‘The Agentic Organisation: A Complete Guide to AI Transformations’.

Meanwhile, departing CEO Jordi Hompes, who led the firm for four years, is moving on to a new chapter. “I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built together, and I’m confident I’m passing the torch to an excellent successor.”
