BRG strengthens competition economics team with João Cardoso Pereira
BRG, a global economics and management consulting firm, has strengthened its team in Lisbon with João Cardoso Pereira.
Appointed a director in the Antitrust & Competition practice, Cardoso Pereira brings nearly two decades of experience in European competition and antitrust matters as both a public enforcer and competition expert.
Before joining BRG, Cardoso Pereira spent over a decade at the Portuguese Competition Authority, most recently as coordinator of Economic Analysis, where he led a team responsible for detecting and investigating abuses of dominance and strengthened the role of economic evidence in Portuguese enforcement.
As the founder of its Digital Task Force, he helped the Portuguese Competition Authority expands its capabilities is key competition areas in digital markets, including artificial intelligence and algorithmic collusion. He also contributed to implementation of the Digital Markets Act. P
Before that, Cardoso Pereira spent six years at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition working on high-profile investigations across sectors.
At BRG, Cardoso Pereira will support clients on complex antitrust and competition matters. He will focus on cases in Iberia, Latin America and Lusophone Africa.

The appointment in Portugal comes one month after BRG significantly strengthened its European economics practice with the acquisition of E.CA Economics, a competition economics firm with offices in Berlin, Brussels, London and Munich.
