Alvarez & Marsal opens Düsseldorf office, 4th in Germany
Alvarez & Marsal has opened a new office in Düsseldorf, its fourth in Germany and twentieth in Europe.
The new office is aimed at better serving the firm’s Nord Rhine-Westphalia-based clients with an on the ground operation. “Our presence in Dusseldorf provides us with stronger platform to meet their needs,” said Peter Platsch, who has been appointed Head of the Düsseldorf office.
Platsch has been with the global consulting firm for over thirteen years, and was promoted to Managing Director three years ago. He specialises in performance improvement and operational excellence projects, M&A transactions (due diligence processes, carve-out and post-merger integrations), business process outsourcing and corporate restructuring, and is part of the Private Equity Performance Improvement unit.
The new office has been kick-started by a team of 15 consultants, most of which have been with Alvarez & Marsal for several years and have now moved to Düsseldorf. According to Mercer's Quality of Living research, Nord Rhine-Westphalia’s second-largest city (by population) is one of the ten most liveable cities in the world.
The firm’s other locales are based in Munich, Frankfurt and Hamburg, and across its German footprint the US-headquartered firm has 150+ professionals serving both corporates and private equity clients.
Office leader Platsch said that as Alvarez & Marsal grows its presence in the region, the firm plans to recruit up to ten new hires, with a target of 20-25 people set for the end of 2020. “We are seeing growing demand from clients to work with A&M to deliver expedient and pragmatic solutions to their challenges,” he said.
Jürgen Zapf, Managing Director and Co-Head of A&M Germany added; “The opening of our Düsseldorf office is evidence of the market’s acceptance of, and responsiveness to, our integrated platform, our hands-on leadership, action results approach and our commitment to maximise value.”
The German move comes just weeks after Alvarez & Marsal entered the Swiss market with an office in Zurich. Later this year the consultancy eyes opening a second locale in the country, in Geneva, to serve the French-speaking part of Switzerland.
Alvarez & Marsal first launched in Germany in 2006. Its European headquarter is based in the UK.
