BrazilAlvarez & Marsal expands Nordic presence with Helsinki office
Within a year of launching its second office in the Nordics, global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has now also landed in Finland.
The new Helsinki office is the firm’s third in the region, launched in response to growing demand for its services, in particular in the area of restructuring said Kristoffer Ståhlbröst, a Managing Director who leads Alvarez & Marsal’s Nordic Restructuring practice.
“As Finnish companies continue to battle the impacts of Covid-19, we are well positioned to help clients revisit their business plans and capital structures, by ensuring liquidity buffers for a prolonged return to stability to best maximize value,” said Ståhlbröst.
Alvarez & Marsal’s Restructuring wing is among the globe’s leaders in the field according to Consultancy.org’s database of credentials, helping clients with designing and executing restructuring processes, stabilising operations in times of crisis, developing and executing cost reduction initiatives, optimising working capital, and managing negotiations with shareholders, creditors and lenders.
The firm has a raft of big ticket engagements worldwide on the roster of its Restructuring practice, including working with NMC Health on its turnaround in the Middle East, supporting Pret A Manger with its restructuring in the UK, advising airliner Virgin Atlantic on its possible insolvency, and aiding India’s Essar Steel's through its turnaround and sale. The practice rose to global fame in the aftermath of the financial crisis, when it worked on the iconic Lehman Brothers collapse.
Alvarez & Marsal was already expanding its Restructuring capabilities across Europe prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, but in the wake of the pandemic-induced crisis the firm has stepped up its rollout and capability bolt-on plans in light of the acute need at clients seeking support in weathering the storm.
The Helsinki office will be led by Dan Andersson, a Managing Director with the European Restructuring & Turnaround team. “I look forward to working with Dan and the team to lay the foundation of our offering in Finland.
