After working in investment banking for two decades, Tommaso Ferrari has switched to the advisory side of the table, appointed a Managing Partner in Alantra’s Investment Banking division in Italy.

“I am extremely excited by the opportunity to be part of an organisation whose entrepreneurial spirit, successful model of sector specialisation and deep presence across 20 geographies are well recognised within the industry,” said Ferrari.

Founded in 2001, Alantra is an international mid-market corporate finance advisory and asset management boutique. The financial advisory company has over 540 professionals in 24 offices, 30 of which are based in Italy.

Alongside existing partners Francesco Moccagatta, Stefano Bellavita and Marcello Rizzo, which all joined the consulting firm in May last year, Ferrari has been tasked with expanding the firm’s footprint in Italy’s investment banking scene.

“The Italian market will continue to be key in the development of our firm. We are delighted with the addition of Tommaso – he brings an excellent track record working as a financial advisor to corporates, families and investors,” said Miguel Hernandez, CEO of Alantra’s Investment Banking division.

Ferrari’s track record includes working on market-leading transactions on behalf of Autogrill, Borsa Italiana, Dea Capital, Diasorin, Ducati, Italgas, Fincantieri, Finmeccanica, IlSole24Ore, Illimity Bank, MZB Group, NB Aurora, and OVS, as well as a range of SME companies in support of their expansion in Italy and internationally.

He previously served UBI Banca, where he was Co-Head of Corporate Finance leading the M&A, Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets teams. Prior to UBI, he worked at Banca IMI in London and Milan as part of the ECM team, raising more than €2.5 billion across several SPAC deals. Ferrari was also part of UBS’s Retail & Consumer team in London and a director of the Italian Coverage Team in Milan.

Earlier this year, Alantra expanded its asset management capabilities in Spain with the acquisition of a 40% stake in MCH Investment Strategies.
