BrazilAlvarez & Marsal launches its Transaction Advisory unit in Spain
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has launched its Global Transaction Advisory Group in Spain, expanding the firm’s portfolio in the country with merger & acquisition services.
The expansion of the transactions practice comes at a time of “heightened deal flows across Europe” said David Evans, European Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group. “We therefore see a significant opportunity in Spain and are expecting continued activity.”
Alvarez & Marsal’s Global Transaction Advisory Group works with corporates and large mid-markets on due diligence (mainly financial related due diligence) and transaction advisory services. The firm’s consultants also work with private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
“Our Global Transaction Advisory Group continues to grow at pace across the globe in response to markets’ individual and collective cross-border needs. The new team in Spain provides the next strategic step for us to deliver seamless cross-border collaboration with colleagues, particularly in Latin America, and expand our boots-on-the ground bench strength in Europe,” said Paul Aversano, Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group.
Leading the practice in Spain are the duo of Cristina Almeida and Ignacio Basagoiti, who both cross over from Deloitte. At the Big Four firm, Almeida served as a Partner in the Financial Advisory team and headed the Financial Institutions Transactions Group and the ESG Transactions practice. During her career, she worked on more than 200 deals globally, including buy- and sell-side due diligence, carve-outs, M&A advisory mandates, valuations, exit readiness and post-merger integration projects.
Basagoiti served in Deloitte’s Transaction Services department and co-headed the financial services deals team. His experience spans large and mid-market buy- and sell-side financial due diligence projects, specialising in complex acquisitions and disposals for both private equity and strategic buyers. Basagoiti also has a track record in carve-outs and with financial reporting requirements in deal environments.
