Aninver and ARGON form strategic alliance to expand infrastructure advisory offering

Aninver Development Partners and Spanish boutique ARGON Consultores have entered into a strategic alliance with the aim to jointly expand their local and international position in the infrastructure landscape.

Headquartered in Spain, Aninver Development Partners is an international consulting and advisory firm specialising in infrastructure, development finance, tourism, the blue economy, climate and sustainability, and private-sector development. The firm works with governments, financial institutions, developers and investors, primarily operating in international markets, with a track record spanning engagements in more than 70 countries worldwide.

ARGON Consultores is a firm specialising in economic and financial advisory services for infrastructure projects. It has deep expertise in infrastructure development, from feasibility studies and financial modelling through to project finance and delivery. Its focus is on the Spanish market, although ARGON Consultores has also built a track record of projects in around 20 international markets.

The strategic alliance brings together the capabilities of both firms to establish a comprehensive offering for clients in the infrastructure sector. “Together, we can offer a more comprehensive range of services throughout the project life cycle: from planning and feasibility studies through public-private partnership structuring, financial modelling, financing, and transaction support,” said José de la Maza, CEO of Aninver Development Partners.

Shared ambition to build a leading player

De la Maza added that the alliance is part of a shared ambition to build a leading player in the infrastructure consulting sector, as well as a joint growth strategy to develop an independent, European-led advisory platform capable of working on complex infrastructure projects across the world.

“The combination of Aninver and ARGON brings together capabilities that are difficult to find in an independent firm: international experience, expertise in the public sector and public-private partnerships, economic and financial structuring capabilities and transaction experience. We want to use this combination to compete more actively in Spain, Europe and other developed markets, while continuing to grow together internationally in the multilateral market.”

As part of the agreement, both firms will retain their respective identities and teams while working together on business development, sharing capabilities and methodologies, and jointly delivering projects.

“For ARGON, this alliance is an opportunity to combine our decades of experience in the economic and financial aspects of infrastructure with Aninver’s international presence and business development capabilities,” said Ignacio Aracil, CEO and Managing Partner of ARGON Consultores. “We share a very similar approach to advisory work: independence, technical rigour, specialisation, commitment and close client relationships.”

Infrastructure investments

The alliance comes at a time of significant change, but also anticipated growth, in the infrastructure sector. According to a recent report by McKinsey & Company, the world will require cumulative global infrastructure investment of $106 trillion through 2040 to meet growing societal and industrial needs.
