EcoVadis names Sourcing Champions an Approved Consultant Training Partner

EcoVadis, a global provider of sustainability ratings on businesses, has named Sourcing Champions an Approved Consultant and Training Partner in Europe.

France-headquartered Ecovadis is one of the most used platforms in the world for companies to evaluate the environmental, social, and ethical practices of businesses in their supply chain. Around 100,000 companies globally use Ecovadis insights and data to enhance their supply chains and supplier relationships.

As a rating agency, EcoVadis does not provide consulting and capability development services. Companies that therefore want to implement the EcoVadis system, or those that seek to improve their scores, are recommended to turn to specialised consultancy firms. In Europe, EcoVadis has around 60 approved Consultant and Training Partners, with Sourcing Champions now among that select group.

“All our Consultant and Training Partners must go through a rigorous vetting process,” stated EcoVadis on its website. “They must all successfully pass an EcoVadis assessment with a score that meets the highest standards and are required to stay-up-to-date on the latest updates to our methodology and assessment process.”

In its role as an Ecovadis Consultant, Sourcing Champions will advise companies on how they use the platform to improve their broader supply chain sustainability practices, and support with the implementation of performance improvement initiatives.

“We also serve as a partner for sustainability and risk, as part of our responsible procurement offering. Digital and data-driven solutions form the foundation of this pillar,” said Robert Waalder, partner at Sourcing Champions.

As a Trainer, the Netherlands-based consulting firm will educate EcoVadis customers on the assessment process to optimize their success rate and score, and share knowhow on embedding the use of EcoVadis ratings within the Supply Chain and Procurement functions.

The drive to responsible procurement

“Responsible procurement, through sustainability and risk management is key to overall ESG efforts. 90% of greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to the value chains of companies, and between 50% and 70% of a company’s costs are with their suppliers in the value chain,” said Waalder.

“Beyond this window of opportunity, European and national laws and regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) are obliging companies to better address their supply chain sustainability. EcoVadis is one of the leading platforms for assessing sustainability performance across global supply chains, we’re therefore delighted to become an official consulting and training partner.”

Waalder continued: “This partnership will deliver real, measurable impact for our clients, including sourcing strategies with sustainability at their core, greater transparency across supply chains, more data-driven supplier decisions, and procurement outcomes aligned with broader ESG objectives.”
