EY promotes Răzvan Ungureanu to partner in Bucharest office

EY has promoted Răzvan Ungureanu to partner in Romania. He is a member of the Tax business.

With almost 17 years of experience in tax advisory, Răzvan Ungureanu specializes in direct taxation work, in the context of tax optimization, compliance, tax planning, business restructuring, and tax-aligned supply chains. He has been with EY since 2008 and currently leads the international tax advisory team in Romania.

“I’m excited to be appointed as partner,” said Ungureanu, adding that he looks forward to continuing his journey with the firm and help EY’s clients navigate a disruptive tax landscape.

“We are seeing a much larger volume of data that taxpayers are required to transmit to tax authorities. This requires digitalization in the tax field, as well as modernization of the infrastructure and the way taxpayers interact with authorities.”

At the same time, Romania’s government is currently working on plans to rise tax income, which will introduce changes to the taxation landscape. “Romania is currently at the bottom of international rankings in terms of the level of taxes collected as a percentage of GDP, which leads to Government measures to increase taxes – and we are already seeing some measures in this regard.”

Răzvan Ungureanu holds a master’s in Corporate Finance and a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchanges. Both degrees were obtained at the Romanian Academy of Economic Studies.
