Dutch IT services company Unit4 has lured a major player in the consulting industry. FTI Consulting, with revenues of $2 billion one of the world's larger multidisciplinary consulting firms, has selected a Unit4 solution to support its finance function.

FTI Consulting has more than 4,700 employees located in 28 countries. The firm’s consultants work with clients on some of their most pressing challenges across strategy, organisation, financial advisory, technology and communication.

In a bid to improve the firm’s internal operations, the US-headquartered firm launched a digital finance transformation of its own. “As a global business advisory firm, we needed a modern operational system that would meet our specific accounting and billing requirements,” explained Gary Richardson, a leader in FTI Consulting’s finance department.

Following a search process to find the most suitable system, during which solutions from several vendors to the professional services industry were evaluated, the decision fell in favour of Unit4. The global consulting firm selected Unit4 Business World’s cloud offering based on its centralised solution for billing practices and efficient accounting capabilities.FTI Consulting taps Unit4 as its finance cloudUnit4 Business World is Unit4’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solution. The system allows clients to manage a range of processes, including financials, procurement, project management, human resources and payroll. Unit4 has a specific setup for professional services organisations, which is tailored to project-based ways of working. FTI Consulting has also opted to implement Unit4 Prevero, a corporate performance management and business planning module which allows finance teams to run analyses and make better predictions.

Richardson, who has been with FTI Consulting since 2008 and is based in Baltimore in United States, said, “Unit4 delivers the modern cloud experience our global finance team needs.”

Mike Ettling, the chief executive of Unit4 said that he is delighted to have tapped such a renowned consultancy to the firm’s professional services portfolio, adding to the likes of existing clients Adecco, Bravida and WSP. “We’re incredibly proud that a professional services firm with a global reputation like that of FTI Consulting has put their trust in us to deliver business-critical services for their finance organisation and a new enterprise software experience through our cloud services platform.”

Meanwhile, implementation of the new system is underway – but which digital consultancy is working alongside FTI Consulting and Unit4 as an execution partner is at the time of writing unknown. Unit4 partners with several consultancies on such engagements, including Baker Tilly, BearingPoint, Capgemini, CGI, Improven and PwC.
