PwC in Malta has kicked off the year with two new partners, lifting the size of its partner and director team in the country to over twenty-five.
Christopher Cardona has been with the Big Four firm since 2008, following his graduation at the University of Malta. He has during his career gained extensive experience in the insurance sector, supporting clients with assurance, regulatory and advisory assignments.
A Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants, Cardona spent some time in PwC’s Sydney office, where he worked in its financial services practice.
Ian Curmi joined PwC in the UK in 2007, and following a two-year spell in the firm’s New York office, he relocated to Malta in 2012. He specialises in assurance services, with a focus on clients in the iGaming sector – Malta is one of Europe’s top hubs for gaming talent and solutions. Mainly for tax reasons, many well-known brands in the scene such as Sweden’s NetEnt and UK’s PlayFrank are headquartered in the island.
A fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Curmi also has gained experience with advisory and financial management engagements.
Commenting on the promotions, PwC’s Malta boss David Valenzia said: “I’m very proud of this milestone for Christopher and Ian. In Malta, an island of just 316 square kilometres, PwC realises revenues of around €42 million, generated by a team of approximately 680 accountants, auditors, consultants and staff from 30+ different nationalities.
