EY-Parthenon’s French M&A team looks back at record year
EY-Parthenon’s French team has continued its growth in the M&A space, delivering a record number of over 90 strategic and commercial due diligence mandates for its corporate and private equity clients.
With over 5,000 strategy consultants in over 50 countries, EY-Parthenon is one of the globe’s largest strategy consulting firms. The firm was founded in 2014 when EY acquired The Parthenon Group, in a move that marked EY’s entry in the strategic consulting scene (the deal was closed months after EY just missed out on acquiring still independent strategy consultancy Roland Berger).
France is home to one of EY-Parthenon’s largest European practices, with a team of around 30 partners and 140 consultants working from its Paris office. The firm’s work revolves around three topics: corporate strategy and top-line growth across sectors, and strategic and commercial due diligence during mergers & acquisitions.
In particular the latter of the firm’s offerings has seen impressive growth in France, as per a deal testimonials roster released by the firm on its corporate LinkedIn account. In 2020, EY-Parthenon completed nearly 90 due diligence engagements for its clients, up from around 40 three years previous. 24 of these 90 transactions worked on last year closed successfully.
The consultancy works on both buy- and sell-side mandates, for both corporates and private equity clients. On the latter group, Henri-Pierre Vacher, the firm’s Private Equity practice leader, said: “We work with large cap funds, such as Ardian, Eurazeo, Bain Capital, but also with mid-cap funds such as Abenex, Andera or Motion Equity.”
The most strategic and commercial due diligence projects were delivered to clients in the consumer & retail, industrial and technology, media and telecom sectors. Notable upcoming sectors in EY-Parthenon’s French portfolio include education and healthcare – two sectors in which it enjoys a market leading reputation globally.
EY-Parthenon’s expanding presence in the M&A landscape comes on the back of organic growth, and builds on the strong fundament provided by the acquisition of the French office of OC&C Strategy Consultants in 2017, which saw a 50-strong team bolster its ranks. Meanwhile, EY-Parthenon works together with EY’s other dealmakers (transaction support, finance, tax, legal, etc) to provide an integrated service.
