BDO has named Cristian Iliescu as the new Managing Partner of its Romanian business.

With over 250 employees working from offices in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Timisoara, Sibiu and Chisinau, BDO is one of Romania’s largest accounting and consulting firms, in headcount ranking among the country’s top seven players. The Romanian team advises and supports clients across the full suite of the firm’s services, including audit, accounting, payroll, restructuring, financial advisory, management consulting, and legal offerings.

BDO’s new domestic managing partner Cristian Iliescu has been with the group for over 22 years, climbing the ranks all the way from a junior to partner, and now into the top seat. The past decade, Iliescu was a partner in the Audit & Assurance division, focused on coordinating audit and audit advisory projects to local and international clients.

"I am honoured to be taking on the top role, especially as my term begins in the year that BDO celebrates its 30-year presence in Romania,” said Iliescu. BDO has been active in Romania since 1992, when it opened its first office in capital city Bucharest.

“I am confident in BDO’s prospects to continue to grow in the Romanian market and to adapt to the challenges of a constantly changing business environment. We will focus on strengthening the team and investing in people, expanding digital capabilities as well as capitalising on the multidisciplinary profile of our organisation.”

A well-known figure in Romania’s audit scene, Iliescu is a member of the Romanian Chamber of Financial Auditors (CAFR), the Association of Chartered Accountants of Great Britain (ACCA) and the Body of Expert Accountants and Certified Accountants of Romania (CECCAR).
