Bain & Company promotes Casper Steenkamp to partner
Global strategy consultancy Bain & Company has promoted Casper Steenkamp to partner in its Amsterdam office.
The 39-year-old has been with Bain & Company for around six years, after previously gaining more than 10 years of experience in consulting and industry roles.
A member of Bain & Company’s Energy & Natural Resources and Performance Improvement practices, Steenkamp works mainly with clients in the chemicals, mining, industrial minerals and food ingredient sectors on strategic and operational topics.
He specialises in strategy, performance improvement programs, cost transformation, advanced analytics and operations decarbonisation. Steenkamp is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Steenkamp joined Bain & Company in 2016 in its Johannesburg office, and transferred to the Dutch practice two years later. Prior to Bain, he was Business Improvement group manager for the Coal mining operations of Exxaro Resources. Before that, Steenkamp worked two years at Accenture in its Strategy division (focused on clients in natural resources) and spent four years as an Engineer at mineral research organisation Mintek.
Commenting on the appointment, Véronique Pauwels, Managing Partner of Bain’s Amsterdam office, said: “I am very excited by Casper’s partner promotion. He and his team have contributed greatly to our clients in the Energy & Natural Resource practice. I am delighted to have him part of the team driving the further growth of our practice.”
Earlier this year Bain & Company promoted two other company members to partner in Amsterdam: Alejandro Navarro and Simon Turner. Robin Bartling meanwhile joined the Dutch partnership from the firm’s São Paulo office.
