Accenture and Google Cloud launch Sovereign Cloud and AI Innovation Center in Brussels
Accenture and Google Cloud have opened a new Sovereign Cloud and AI Innovation Center in Brussels, aimed at helping governments and highly regulated industries scale artificial intelligence while maintaining strict control over data and infrastructure.
The new facility, jointly operated by both companies, will serve as an innovation hub and training centre. Organisations can use the centre to design, test and validate new cloud and AI solutions before moving to large-scale deployment.
In addition, the centre enables collaboration with experts from Accenture, Google Cloud and partner organisations – including software vendors within the Google ecosystem – to develop use cases and build proof-of-concept solutions.
According to Mauro Macchi, CEO for EMEA at Accenture, the initiative responds to growing demand from European organisations seeking to balance rapid AI adoption with sovereignty requirements. “Organisations are looking for ways to innovate while ensuring that critical systems and sensitive data remain under their control,” he said.
“Trust, compliance and sovereignty are essential conditions for governments and regulated sectors adopting AI. This centre helps organisations determine, on a per-use-case basis, the level of control required over data, models and infrastructure – enabling them to innovate securely while equipping their people to retain that control.”
Tara Brady, President of Google Cloud in EMEA, added: “The new Sovereign Innovation Center provides a secure, collaborative environment where organisations can build, test and validate AI solutions while keeping their most sensitive workloads protected. It gives customers the freedom to innovate with full control and confidence.”
“Together with Accenture, we are helping European organisations bridge the gap between harnessing the power of AI and meeting stringent digital sovereignty requirements.”
Training hub
The Sovereign Cloud and AI Innovation Center will also function as a training hub for professionals within the Accenture Google Business Group, a joint practice established by the two organisations.
Accenture and Google Cloud have been collaborating for several years, both globally and across national markets such as Belgium.
