Alvarez & Marsal welcomes three new members to Iberia leadership team

Global consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has strengthened its leadership team in Spain and Portugal with the appointment of three new Managing Directors: Emilio Capela, Javier Gazulla and João Currito.

Emilio Capela brings more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation, growth and operational efficiency, with a particular focus on Generative AI. He is a member of the Digital Transformation Services practice.

Throughout his career, Capela has worked with clients across sectors including banking, insurance, retail and private equity, leading projects in digital growth, operations, technology and strategy. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, he was Operating Partner at GPF Partners and previously spent much of his career in strategy consulting at McKinsey & Company, where he led the Digital Marketing Operations & Technology team throughout EMEA.

Javier Gazulla joins the Tax practice of Alvarez & Marsal, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the field to the firm. He specialises in tax structuring for investments, debt restructurings, corporate reorganisations, international taxation and wealth planning.

Throughout his career, Gazulla has advised multinationals and investment funds on M&A transactions, investments and restructuring processes, and has held senior leadership roles at KPMG and at leading law firms such as Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, Hogan Lovells and Freshfields.

Outside of Alvarez & Marsal, Gazulla teaches specialist tax courses in postgraduate programmes at Universidad Carlos III and the University of Navarra.

João Currito is a member of the Infrastructure & Capital Projects team, where he focuses on the Asset Optimisation and Operational Risk Management offerings.

Throughout his 30-year career, he has worked across sectors including natural resources, manufacturing, transport, logistics and distribution, financial services and utilities.

Currito focuses on improving operational performance, process efficiency, the design and implementation of management models, and the deployment of digital solutions to increase productivity and deliver sustainable operational and financial results. Before Alvarez & Marsal, he worked at several multinational companies across different locations, primarily in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

The trio of hires grows Alvarez & Marsal’s leadership team in Iberia to nearly 40 Managing Directors.
