Peter Mücke and Hermann Hienz join BearingPoint’s Financial Services team

International consulting firm BearingPoint has strengthened its team in Germany with Peter Mücke (partner) and Hermann Hienz (director), who both bring extensive expertise in regulatory risk management.

The pair join from Sopra Steria Next, where they both held leadership roles in its Financial Services practice. At BearingPoint, they will help the firm build out its non-financial risk offerings, including in areas such as ICT risk management, operational resilience, Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), internal audit, and AI governance.

“We look forward to helping shape the service offerings of the Finance & Regulatory practice at BearingPoint,” said Mücke. “Our goal is to support financial service providers in translating regulatory requirements into efficient and audit-proof management capabilities,” added Hienz.

The team they are part of supports banks and other financial institutions with developing target models for non-financial risk frameworks, particularly in the context of ICT risk, third-party management, and data and artificial intelligence.

Before joining BearingPoint, Mücke spent 15 years in various roles at Sopra Steria and Sopra Steria Next, including eight years as a partner. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant at zeb. Mücke studied economics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where he also earned his doctorate as a research assistant in the Department of Economics.

Hienz has over 20 years of experience. Before BearingPoint, he held positions at an internationally operating state-owned bank and spent over a decade at Sopra Steria and its consulting arm Sopra Steria Next. He completed his studies and doctorate in Computer Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, with research specialising in pattern recognition and artificial intelligence.
