Varrlyn adds Maarten Verbakel and Deborah Caia to its team
Dutch consulting firm Varrlyn has grown its team to over 15 professionals with the addition of Deborah Caia and contractor Maarten Verbakel.
From its base in Amsterdam, Varrlyn is a consultancy that supports financial services institutions with business transformations and system implementations in the capital markets domain. The firm specialises in font and back office activities in the dealing room of banks.
The latest associated consultant to join its team, Maarten Verbakel, is a senior business analyst with a track record of almost two decades in the financial services industry. In the past decade, he was involved with projects at the Netherlands’ top four banks – Rabobank, ABN Amro, ING and SNS. Having worked around ten years for KPN ICT Consulting (at the time Getronics Consulting), Kurt Salmon (now Accenture) and Novisource, Maarten spent the past five years as an independent consultant. Earlier in his career he served British multinational BT and SNS.
During his career, Maarten has gained extensive experience in data analysis and in intermediating between the business and IT side of an organisation. He has deep knowledge of financial markets and its products, as well as in risk management and asset & liability management (ALM). Under the banner of Varrlyn, Maarten currently holds a role in the ALM department of Rabobank, the Netherland's second largest bank.
Deborah Caia has meanwhile joined Varrlyn as recruiter. After earning her Master's degree in Law from the University of Brescia, the Italian-national worked for Staples and Elsevier in Amsterdam. At the provider of business supplies and equipment, Deborah was part of a team that supported the implementation of a new Human Capital Management (HCM) system. At Elsevier, she was a member of the Content Protection team, which protects the company’s online intellectual property (content, research) from misuse and theft.
In her new role, she leads Varrlyn’s recruitment and talent sourcing endeavours. The consultancy works with a core of team of capital market experts, and has a network of external independent consultants. Deborah has been tasked with search & selection, resource allocation for projects and maintaining relationships with candidates and third parties.
Last year Varrlyn hired two Indian-origin for its Murex consultancy offering: Rajib Ranjan Ganguly and Rakesh Pai.
