Unit4 contracts Thomas Otter to advance its HCM solution

ERP provider Unit4 has brought Thomas Otter on board to help the company advance its software suite for human capital management. 

Since its early days in the 1980s, Unit4 has specialised in software products and services. The Netherlands-headquartered company provides organisations in a range of sectors – professional services, higher education, public services and not-for-profit – with the technological backbone to effectively operate their business functions and back-office processes. 

Unit4’s portfolio of products includes solutions for financial management and performance management among others, as well for as human capital and talent management. In a bid to extend its latter offering, the software company has tapped the services of Thomas Otter, formerly a Vice President at SAP SuccessFactors, which is SAP’s cloud-based human resource management system.

A German national, Otter brings over two decades of experience in the human capital technology space. He currently works as an independent advisor and non-executive board member, having previously served ERP giant SAP for five years, and Gartner for a similar period, where he led the analyst firm’s research for HR/HCM technologies. “As a senior independent advisor, Thomas will help Unit4 drive its human capital management strategy as we focus on making ERP the enabler of employee experience,” said Matthias Thurner, Chief Product Officer at Unit4. 

The appointment comes six months after Unit4 acquired Intuo, a talent enablement and engagement solution, in a move that both broadened and deepened Unit4’s human capital management software proposition.

“We’re already delivering a powerful holistic people experience through our solutions, but we want to do more,” stated Thurner. “HCM and talent management are vital components for enhancing employee experience and attracting and retaining the best talent. Thomas will play an integral role as we develop and expand our HCM solution and service capabilities.”

Speaking of his new challenge, Otter remarked, “The promise and opportunity for HCM software to change how work is done is very real. Unit4 is already making great progress on its people experience journey, and I look forward to helping the company further strengthen its HCM solutions.”

Earlier this year, consulting giant FTI Consulting announced it is adopting Unit4 software to revamp its finance function.
