IT services giant Atos has named Janne Ahonen the new head of its Finland and Baltics organisation.

Ahonen brings over 20 years of experience to the role, the large majority of which gained in the consulting industry. Following a brief spell as an investment analyst, he joined Accenture in 2000, serving the global business and technology consultancy for seventeen years, latterly in the role of managing director (the equivalent of partner).

The past roughly three years Ahonen was a partner at EY (formerly Ernst & Young) in Finland, based in Helsinki. He specialises in digital transformation and IT consulting, and has a special interest in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and robotics.

Ahonen has also led large-scale business programs aimed at cost reduction, process redesign, customer experience and risk management, among others, and has extensive experience with lean and agile methodologies.

Throughout his career, he mainly focused on clients in the financial services industry, with a focus on the banking, capital markets, insurance and wealth management segments.

In his new role at Atos, a French-origin IT services giant, Ahonen will lead the Finland and Baltics (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) division, succeeding Mika Enberg, who held the role for just over a year after replacing Esa Tuokko in February last year. Enberg has meanwhile joined Helsinki-based IT services company 3stepIT as leader of its Finland and Baltics unit.

“Working for a company that is in the bleeding edge of technology is a dream job, as I have had a passion for computers since childhood,” said Ahonen. He added, “Advances in technology are only just starting to accelerate, and Atos is able to provide an impressive depth of knowledge for its clients.”

After breaking the news on LinkedIn, Ahonen has been overwhelmed by felicitations and congratulatory messages, receiving over 700 likes and comments on his post. These include comments from former colleagues and relations wishing him luck, and new Atos colleagues welcoming him aboard.

Commenting on the appointment, Harri Saikkonen, Managing Director of Atos in the Nordics said: “I am extremely happy that Janne is joining the Atos team, bringing his leadership to drive us forward.”
