Atos acquires French sustainability consulting firm EcoAct
Atos has acquired EcoAct, a consultancy specialised in sustainability and renewable energy deployment. Around 150 employees in offices across Europe, North America and Africa join the ranks of the French IT services giant.
Founded in 2005, EcoAct helps clients with developing carbon reduction strategies. The company works for corporates, helping them with among others the reduction of their CO2 footprint; for large utility players, supporting them with renewable energy generation; governments, advising them on forest conservation, clean water or sustainable agriculture, and a cohort of other players that strive for a greener planet.
The firm’s flagship offering is its comprehensive “A to Zero” proposition, which supports organisations at every stage of their journeys towards a low-carbon and even net zero operation. EcoAct provides its services with a 150-strong team based in offices in France (headquartered in Paris), the United Kingdom, Spain, Turkey, the United States and Kenya.
By joining Atos, a €12 billion technology and consulting group with 110,000 employees, EcoAct will according to EcoAct co-founders Thierry Fornas and Gerald Maradan enable the privately held specialist consultancy to benefit from Atos’ global footprint and technological knowhow.
“The joining of forces creates an opportunity to combine digital and technological expertise with deep climate change knowledge, offering organisations the opportunity to accelerate their journey to net zero. The complementary nature of EcoAct and Atos creates a new market leading approach for decarbonisation, helping business leaders tackle the climate challenges they face to deliver valuable transformational change,” they said.
Meanwhile, for Atos, the move significantly beefs up its sustainability consulting offering, and adds a layer of strategic consultancy propositions to its portfolio, enabling it to provide clients with a more comprehensive “one-stop-shop” for climate change solutions globally.
Elie Girard, the CEO of Atos unpacked, “Combining the leading position of EcoAct in climate consultancy and offset project development with our decarbonisation portfolio of solutions and services and our go-to-market will step-change our customers’ journeys to net zero.”
As part of the integration, Atos and EcoAct will launch a Decarbonization Excellence Centre in Paris, France.
The bolt-on comes one month after Atos acquired Alia Consulting, a French IT consulting firm specialised in SAP services to companies in the energy & utilities industry. Earlier, in April, Atos bought US-based Miner & Kasch, a data science consultancy.
