Mid-market dealmaker Marktlink expands into Southern Germany
M&A consultancy Marktlink has opened a new office in Munich, its third in Germany following Dusseldorf and Hamburg.
The expansion into Munich marks the next step of Marktlink’s ambition to build a national presence in Germany, the firm’s second largest market after home base the Netherlands.
“In the long term, we want to create coverage with five offices,” said Fredrik Jonker, partner at Marktlink and lead of the firm’s DACH growth strategy. From its new Munich base, the M&A consulting firm will serve clients in the region around Munich, Augsburg, Nuremberg, Würzburg, Regensburg and Ingolstadt.
Marktlink advises entrepreneurs and mid-market businesses with acquisitions, divestitures, growth financing and business succession. The firm also works with private equity firms and family offices to execute buy-and-build strategies.
Jonker: “The Bavaria region has a large number of medium-sized family businesses and numerous ‘hidden champions’. The potential of the M&A market is large. We believe that we can make an impact in the region by serving entrepreneurs with advisors who know the local language and culture.”
In line with this approach, Marktlink has brought a seasoned German dealmaker with a strong network in the region on board to lead the Munich venture. Andreas Bonnard brings over two decades of experience to the firm, having previously worked at among others Big Four groups KPMG and EY.
“Here in Southern Germany there are large DAX companies but also numerous other interesting companies,” said Bonnard. “From Munich, we are ready to support all German entrepreneurs with M&A related questions. We will do so by establishing personal relationships and combining local knowledge with our international network.”
München is the eleventh office of Marktlink. The firm also has hubs in Belgium, Denmark and the United Kingdom. Its longer-term ambition is to become one of the leading mid-market dealmakers across Europe.
