Consulting firm Sourcing Champions is set to host the second edition of the annual Procurement Climate Council in collaboration with software company Ivalua.

The Procurement Climate Council event has the goal of helping to connect leaders from across the procurement landscape and aims to help them share expertise and inspiration. The event will take place at Sourcing Champions’ office in Amsterdam on June 5-6.

In recent years, procurement has become a key driver of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts for companies large and small. Embracing sustainable procurement practices helps organizations incorporate sustainability into their purchasing decisions, ultimately reducing their carbon footprint.

The event will bring experts and business leaders face-to-face, with the participation of around 30 CPOs, procurement excellence professionals, and sustainability leaders.

One keynote speaker will be Joyeeta Gupta, an award-winning Dutch environmental scientist specializing in environmental development in the global South. A professor at the University of Amsterdam and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, her work focuses on the impact of climate change on developing countries and how governance can help address these issues.

Another keynote speaker is Erik-Jan Ossewaarde, senior vice president of Global Sourcing at DHL Group. He plays a crucial role in implementing supplier sustainability initiatives within the organization. Ossewaard’s insights are invaluable for understanding how to transform procurement functions to achieve sustainability goals.

Commenting on last year’s inaugural event, Robert Waalder, the founder of Sourcing Champions said: “The event was a resounding success, providing participants with valuable insights, meaningful connections, and a renewed commitment to sustainability in procurement. We look forward to the next edition, as we continue to collaborate, innovate, and push the boundaries to shape a more sustainable future.”
