BearingPoint joins the global B Corp movement
European-origin management and technology consultancy BearingPoint has attained B Corp status, becoming part of a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
To become a B Corp, companies need to undergo a rigorous assessment on five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. B Corp status is subsequently only handed to organisations that demonstrate excellence across these five areas, based on their policies and achievements.
In a statement, B Lab (the network behind the B Corp movement) has now confirmed that BearingPoint has met its high standards of social, human and environmental impact, as well as accountability and transparency. “We are extremely pleased to welcome BearingPoint to the B Corp community. BearingPoint has showcased its positive impact as a whole business and can now effectively inspire its clients around the globe and build collective action towards critical challenges.”
Axelle Paquer, leader of the Sustainability portfolio in BearingPoint’s management committee, said the recognition marks the next milestone in a long journey the firm initially set out four years ago. “We are very proud of achieving B Corp certification, and we worked hard to reach this goal we set in 2020. It was one of the four strategic priorities of our Sustainability Strategy 2025, and we committed to setting challenging targets and accelerating our impact locally and globally.”
“Now being a B Corp shows our commitment to sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion,” she continued.
Globally, around 9,000 businesses are endorsed to carry the B Corp certified status, a recognition which comes with a large number of benefits but also responsibilities. In order to maintain certification, B Corps must uphold their standards and re-prove their worth every three years.
Paquer said that building on the B Corp status, BearingPoint will continue on its “bold path to reach all our ambitious sustainability goals.” These goals also include targets for diversity & inclusion across teams, increasing female representation in leadership positions, a drastic reduction of CO2 emissions, and support of local communities.
With revenues of over €1 billion, BearingPoint is one of the largest management and technology consulting firms with European roots. Its heritage goes back to the early days of the 20th century.
