ABN Amro Clearing has signed a partnership with Levi9, with the two companies to work together in the Netherlands and Romania on enhancing the bank’s technology capabilities.

Based out of the Netherlands, ABN Amro Clearing is an international player in transaction processing, payment logistics and risk management. The company, a subsidiary of ABN Amro, operates with 11 offices around the globe and serves clients on five continents.

The agreement with Levi9, a Netherlands-headquartered IT consultancy with over 1,200 staff in several European countries, will see tech engineers from Levi9 support ABN Amro Clearing on a variety of applications and infrastructure within the Product Grid and the Platform Grid. Levi9 will also help ABN Amro Clearing with cloud work (on AWS).

Friso Westra, CIO at ABN Amro Clearing, said that Levi9 was chosen following a competitive process for its proven IT expertise, experience in the financial sector, strong AWS competencies, and cultural fit with the bank.

“Our collaboration with Levi9 accelerates our operational capabilities and allow us to attract the best technology talent, which enables us to provide high quality solutions to our clients. The added value of Levi9 has been impressive so far and promising for our collaboration in the future,” he commented.

The decision to select Levi9 as its partner also has to do with the proximity of both companies in Iași, Romania. Levi9 has been active with a nearshore delivery hub in Iași since 2007, recently expanding its footprint in the city to 300+ employees.

ABN Amro Clearing meanwhile has just opened an IT hub in Iași, with the aim of outsourcing work to Romania and gaining smoother access to talent that is notoriously scarce in the Dutch market. “The opening of our IT Services hub in Iași represents an important step towards our aim to utilise global IT talent and stimulate innovation. It will help us in realising our goals and mission,” said Rutger Schellens, CEO at ABN Amro Clearing.

The fact that both companies are based in Iași will make the collaboration more powerful, highlighted Westra. “Levi9 has a strong connection with the local market in Iași… and our collaboration with them will allow us to attract the best engineering talent in Iași.”

On the partnership, Angelina Best, CEO at Levi9, said: “We are very proud of this collaboration with ABN Amro Clearing. This emphasises our commitment to quality and innovation reinforces our established expertise in the financial sector allowing us to push the boundaries of innovation even further.”
