BearingPoint acquires strategic sustainability consultancy I Care

In its second acquisition this month, BearingPoint has acquired I Care, a sustainability consultancy with over 80 consultants in France and Brazil.

Reflecting on the deal, BearingPoint’s Global Managing Partner Kiumars Hamidian said that I Care’s “strong reputation” and “proven practice and methodology” will significantly expand BearingPoint’s sustainability capabilities, at a time of booming demand for the service.

Launched in 2010, the sustainability practice of BearingPoint advises companies and public organisations across the lifecycle of their (digital) sustainability agenda. The firm also has a number of solutions in the domain, most notably its carbon emissions calculator.

With I Care’s 80 consultants now on board, BearingPoint adds a layer of new offerings and clients to its existing portfolio.

Established in 2008, I Care helps public organisations, non-profits, private companies and financial institutions with decarbonising their footprint. In the space, I Care is particularly known for its strategic expertise around carbon and biodiversity planning and public policy development. Beyond sustainability, the consultancy also has offerings focused on the S and G components of ESG.

“By hybridising scientific and strategy consulting skills, I Care has positioned itself as a key player in helping organizations define and implement environmental strategies”, explained Hamidian.

Meanwhile, following deal closing, synergies between the two consulting firms are expected to help the newly wed partners “develop compelling new value propositions for our existing clients,” added Hamidian.
