Ed De Vroedt and Diego Klappenbach lead UMS Group regions

International consulting firm UMS Group has unveiled two new leadership appointments in its European division. 

Ed De Vroedt, a 13-year veteran of UMS Group, has been Managing Director of the firm’s Benelux operation, headquartered in Amsterdam. He leads the firm’s presence in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, spanning client management, project delivery, thought leadership and internal operations, as well as learning consortia programs led from the region. 

Prior to this current role, he was a leader in the Dutch practice, serving clients in the electric utility, gas and water sectors. He specialises in asset management transformations, strategic investment optimisation, and the deployment of digitalisation strategies. Before that, he served as Managing Director of UMS Group in Australia between 2014 – 2016 and played a key role in expanding the firm’s asset management services into the Asia Pacific market. 

In a dual role, De Vroedt also takes on the role of European Operations and Finance Director.

Meanwhile, in the Nordics, Diego Klappenbach has been promoted to the role of Managing Director Scandinavia, which sees him top off a remarkable period with the firm. When he joined the consulting firm in 2015 he was the first employee serving the Scandinavian market, and now he leads a team of experienced and junior consultants specialised in asset management. 

During his time at UMS Group, Klappenbach developing asset strategies and supported the implementation of asset management systems at clients across several industries, including the energy, power generation, hydropower, nuclear and transportation sectors. Prior to joining UMS Group, he worked for Swedish consultancy Sonder and eight years for energy giant Vattenfall in its internal consulting and project management wing.
