Big Four firm EY and financial services specialist Sionic have been named Europe’s leading wealth management consultancies, taking home the top two awards at the 2021 WealthBriefing Awards.

In what has grown into one of the most anticipated competitions in wealth management scene, the annual WealthBriefing Awards recognises outstanding achievement and progress across the asset management, private banking, wealth management, alternatives and investment segments.

This year’s flagship award for consulting firms in Europe – Best Management Consultancy – went to EY, in a reversal of last year’s result, when Sionic bagged the award ahead of EY and Alpha FMC. In 2019, EY also won the industry prize

According to the jury, consisting of a panel of high-profile advisors, bankers and technologists, EY stands out in the consultancy industry for its “outstanding track record of delivery in strategic advice, performance improvement and change management projects for wealth managers, private banks, boutique firms and family offices, software and service providers and platform providers.”

EY enjoyed a double scoop, also picking up the M&A Advisor award, while the Big Four giant received a highly commended score in the Wealth Management Thought Leadership category, behind winner BNP Paribas.

For Sionic, wealth management is one of the firm’s key areas of focus, and the consultancy has been lauded by the jury for the depth and quality of its offerings. The firm also received a highly commended status (behind winner Fenergo) in the category Client Lifecycle Management Solution, for its rules engine, ‘truth tables’ and API linkages to public and private data sources.

Meanwhile, Gilly Green, Managing Partner of Sionic’s Wealth Management and Private Banking practice, was named the winner of the Leading Individual Advisor category.
