Eraneos beefs up German presence with addition of SMP
International consulting group Eraneos has beefed up its presence in the German market with the acquisition of SMP, a Düsseldorf-based company with over 70 consultants.
Founded in 1998, SMP specialises in three line of business: strategic work around growth and business model design; commercial excellence including sales & marketing optimisation; and organisational operations in areas such as finance, customer service and technology.
SMP works for clients in the sectors of energy, natural resources, insurance, banking, utilities, and telecommunications. The firm has bagged multiple awards for its client work.
Commenting on the deal, Lars Godzik, partner at Eraneos, said: “SMP is an excellent partner for our group enhancing our strategy competency significantly and also adding a strong footprint in industries where we want to continue to grow and see strong demand for our services – especially in utility and insurance industries.”
Born out of the merger between AWK (Austria), Ginkgo Management Consulting (Germany), and Quint (Netherlands), Eraneos – which rebranded at the start of this year – currently has around 1,000 professionals in Europe and Asia.
With the purchase of SMP, Germany now becomes the firm’s second-largest market (around 280 staff), behind Switzerland (around 500 consultants) and just ahead of the Netherlands (250 employees).
“It makes me proud that our Eraneos growth story is attracting companies that want access to a broader expertise and international delivery capabilities,” said Oliver Vaterlaus, CEO of Eraneos. “By joining forces, we can offer our customers a broader range of services and our employees even better prospects.”
Alfons Niebuer, partner at SMP, added: “Joining Eraneos provides us with additional organisational, technology and digitisation expertise as well as international delivery capability. It will enable us to offer our clients an end-to-end customer journey: from developed strategy concepts to successful implementation in IT systems.”
As part of the deal, SMP subsidiary Convalid Analytics is also transferring to Eraneos.
