Joachim Depper joins Anderson MacGyver to support German growth

After 18 years at Mediaan, Joachim Depper has joined Anderson MacGyver to support the growth of the firm’s German business.

Joachim Depper, a prominent figure in the IT consultancy sector, has embarked on a new chapter by joining Anderson MacGyver in Germany. Depper’s move follows a long tenure at IT and consultancy company Mediaan, where he held numerous roles, including CEO.

Reflecting on his decision, Depper explained his continued passion for consultancy and the specific appeal of Anderson MacGyver. Having recently transitioned his CEO responsibilities at Mediaan, Depper expressed a desire to focus on client work, drawing on his experience with major clients such as Deutsche Telekom and HSBC.

“I have known Anderson MacGyver for 12 years through my friendship with Rik Bijmholt [the CEO of Anderson MacGyver] for over 20 years and I was very happy that Rik and his team took me on immediately,” notes Depper. “I am impressed by the expertise of the firm and the IP-based methods.”

During his leadership at Mediaan, Depper spearheaded significant milestones, including positioning Mediaan as a recognized consultancy within the German telecommunications sector within three years. He also played a pivotal role in the 2014 management buyout of Mediaan and subsequently led the transformation of the national entities into a cohesive international company.

“The next milestone was the development of our AI competence center in cooperation with the University of Maastricht. This made us one of the first consulting and development companies in the region. Approximately 30% of our revenues were generated with data topics,” adds Depper.

German growth

Looking ahead, Depper’s ambition is to work closely with Sönke Thoms, country director of Anderson MacGyver in Germany, to further expand the firm’s presence and establish it as a leading consulting boutique in the German market.

He emphasizes the crucial role of close collaboration between the German and Dutch teams in delivering exceptional value to clients, particularly amidst the current economic uncertainties. Depper’s core expertise lies in guiding companies through significant market and technological shifts, with a strong focus on change management.

“The transformation of technical organizations, including the implementation of sourcing projects, is certainly one of my main focuses. Through my time at Mediaan (now Conclusion Intelligence), I have a very good overview of what is possible with today’s methods and tools,” notes Depper.
