BrazilDeloitte Legal strengthens CEE practice with Ron Given
Big Four firm Deloitte has hired Ron Given with the remit of further expanding its Deloitte Legal division in Central and Eastern Europe.
Given brings over four decades of experience to the role, having previously served Mayer Brown for three decades, latterly as a partner, and later in his career at Argo Group, a listed Bermuda-based international insurance holding company as its legal counsel.
Most recently, Given worked ten years for law firm Wolf Theiss, where he led the firm’s Warsaw office – the firm’s second largest European office, second to its home office in Vienna. At Wolf Theiss, Given practiced commercial law throughout Central Europe, including in Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Serbia.
At Deloitte Legal, with over 400 lawyers one of the leading players in the CEE region, Given has been appointed Senior Legal Counsel for its 19 Central and Eastern European countries. “I am absolutely delighted with this new role. The firm’s very attractive client proposition has both impressed and attracted me. I look forward to helping manage and grow the success of this terrific team,” he stated.
Alongside providing legal advisory services to clients, Given will focus on strengthening Deloitte’s CEE Legal structure and cooperation “in order to fully leverage the potential of our regional teams,” said Krzysztof Moczulski, a Warsaw-based partner at Deloitte.
“Ron has an established record of success in many of our region’s most important markets, including Poland and the Czech Republic. His familiarity with the region will allow him to hit the ground running which will be an advantage to all of Deloitte’s staff and clients,” added Moczulski.
Jan Spáčil, a Prague-based partner who leads Deloitte Legal CEE, remarked; “While we are already the largest law firm in the region by headcount and country coverage, we have absolutely no intention of stopping there. Our goal and plan is to better leverage the potential of our regional focus and cooperation, and to improve our profile, so that we become the first choice law firm in the region.”
Earlier this week, Deloitte Legal co-launched a Best Value centre of excellence in Belgium.
